BBBike is an information system for cyclists in Berlin and
Brandenburg (Germany). The application has the following features:
- Display map with streets, cycle paths, bad surfaces, railways,
rivers, parks, altitudes and other map features
- Find routes between two points. The route-finder may be
customized to match cyclists preferences, amongst others:
- fastest route
- avoid busy streets
- avoid bad surfaces, for example cobblestones
- prefer "green" routes (in parks, forest or along rivers and lakes)
- consider current wind direction and strength and hills
- Current road works in Berlin are known and used in route calculations
- Output map with route as PDF or a GPS track
- A bike power calculator
- Automatically fetch current Berlin weather data
Screenshots of
the desktop application which is available for Linux, Unix,
Mac OS X, and Windows.
There is also a simple but popular
Web interface.
Download
of the desktop application, written in the Perl programming language together with the Tk GUI toolkit. Note that for Linux
and Unix you also need
Perl
and the
Tk
module installed. Windows and Mac OS X users may download the complete package.
